Safety Bar Squat
How to
Barbell- 1 Set the padded bar on the upper back, hands on the handles.
- 2 Squat down, keeping the chest up.
- 3 Drive up through the whole foot.
Tips
- The handles in front take stress off the shoulders and wrists.
- The bar pushes the torso forward; resist by driving the upper back up.
- Expect a little less than on your back squat.
Common mistakes
- Letting the chest fold forward.
- Pulling down on the handles so hard that the bar slides.
- Logging it as a back squat.
