Deficit Deadlift
How to
Barbell- 1 Stand on a low plate or platform, bar over mid-foot.
- 2 Brace and pull from the lower start, keeping the bar close.
- 3 Stand tall, then lower back to the floor.
Tips
- A 2 to 5 cm platform is enough; more changes the start position too much.
- It builds the first part of the pull off the floor.
- Use 10 to 20% less than for your regular deadlift.
Common mistakes
- Rounding the lower back to reach the lower start.
- Standing on something unstable.
- A deficit so deep that the hips start below the knees.
